- He reminded God of His covenant with Israel (1:8,9)
- He confessed Israel’s sin, and his own (1:6,7)
- He asked God for specific help (1:11)
- An unselfish man
- Though he could’ve been content in luxury, Nehemiah said ‘Use me!’ (1:11)
7 Principles
#1) We must pray out of a heart of deep concern (Luke 18:4-7)
#2)
We must make prayer a priority over other needs (Acts 13:1,2)
#3)
We must pray persistently (Luke 18:7, Matt. 6:25-34)
#4)
We must recognize that God is great and awesome (Matt. 6:9-13)
#5)
We should also remind God of His promises to us (Heb. 10:19-22)
#6)
We must acknowledge our unworthiness and sinfulness and failings (I John 1:9)
#7)
We must be specific in our prayers if we want specific answers (Phil. 4:6, Matt. 7:7-11)
